Sandpoint, Idaho to the Washington border

Sandpoint, ID
After three hard days of bicycling decided to take it a bit easy today. Started out of Sandpoint relatively late, 9:30 AM, and traveled to Priest River... a timber town in which Andrea lived when she was a little girl. Place looked relatively unchanged since the 50s with the exception of a few convenience stores. Took a picture of the school hoping that this is the one Andrea attended.

From Priest River, it was on to Oldtown and then the Washington border. On this trip I've traveled through 12 states as well as the District of Columbia. Washington will be the last of the states that I visit. Known for its steep mountain passes, rigorous bicycling terrain, and now the recent forest fires, this should be a challenge. I hope to complete the trip in the next 10 to 11 days. Wish me luck everyone.

My neighbors for the night as we camp in Washington... First night in the state.

The reports I am hearing out of Washington are saying the vast majority of smoke currently effecting the state is coming directly from YOUR TIRES! Wow...Best of luck in your remaining miles and congrats on your recent century (not that we weren't already impressed!!).

  3. Its your C&O canal camp nurse buddy, telling you to check air quality reports and consider not riding (or maybe even wearing a particulate mask?) on days of poor air quality in washington. I can't believe you are nearing the end of this adventure! I am so glad I met you when you were less than 100 miles in so I could have the privilege to follow you on your journey here. I am currently living and working not too far away (comparatively), in southern oregon. Will be with you in spirit as you cross the finish line in a few days. Enjoy the evergreen state and stay safe!!

    1. We have both traveled a lot of miles since we shared a camp on the Chesapeake and Ohio towpath. Keep a smile on your lips and a song in your heart, see you on the trail.
